Radio & TV Program Director

About

Program directors plan and schedule material for radio and television stations and networks. Depending on the network and their specific role, they may oversee material including newscasts, sportscasts, entertainment programming, public service programs, and commercials.

Within a large network, the program director may supervise a programming team, whereas at smaller station they may ma age the station and handle all programming responsibilities.

The decisions program directors make are informed by factors such as budgets, audience demographics, any par the budget available for program material, the audience their station or network seeks to attract, and policies on content, advertising and editorial stance.
