Speech Writer
About
A speechwriter prepares and writes speeches that will be delivered by another person. Usually, speechwriters are speechwriters are hired by politicians, business executives and others in the public eye; but they'll also be hired to write speeches for weddings and other social events.
The context, timeframes and client contact varies hugely speech to speech: sometimes writers will have 6 months to prepare a relatively simple speech; on other occasions they'll need to step in at the last minute to coach a nervous speaker through their speech.
Speechwriters are able to absorb, filter and condense large quantities of information into something cohesive and compelling, while helping their client hit just the right tone for their time in the spotlight.
